The Nova Scotia Skilled Worker Immigration Program is a way to fill employment positions in the province that are in demand (positions that permanent residents or Canadian citizens cannot fill) by assisting local employers in recruiting foreign workers with specific professional skills, as well as recent international graduates. The program's requirements for immigrant applicants include:
- Age between 21 and 55 years old.
- Obtaining a full-time permanent job offer from an employer in Nova Scotia with a valid employment contract.
- Accumulating at least 12 months of full-time (1560 hours) relevant work experience before submitting the application (NOC 3 or 4 jobs require a minimum of 6 months with the employer).
- A high school diploma or higher from Canada or the equivalent, with non-Canadian credentials requiring an ECA assessment.
- Meeting language requirements:
NOC 0, 1, 2 positions: Proof of CLB 5 or higher in English or French proficiency (IELTS General - Listening, Speaking each not lower than 5, Reading not lower than 4), or evidence of working in a job where English or French was the primary language of communication.
NOC 3, 4 positions: CLB 4 or higher in English or French proficiency (IELTS General - Listening 4.5, Reading 3.5, Writing and Speaking not lower than 4).
- Having sufficient funds or income to support settlement in Nova Scotia.
Employer Requirements:
- Registered and operating within Nova Scotia.
- Operating normally for a minimum of two years.
- Recruitment can meet one of the following conditions:
- Possession of a Provincial Employer Registration Certificate along with a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
- Recruitment activities, including job advertisements (for at least four consecutive weeks), interviews, etc., as determined by the circumstances.
- Applicant holding an open work permit.
